What to Expect at Your First Whitening Session

If you have never had a whitening injection before, here is what a typical first session involves.

1. Consultation

Before anything is administered, we go through your medical history and current medications, and confirm the formulation and course length that fits your goals. This is also the point to ask questions — there is no such thing as a question too basic.

2. Preparation

The chosen injection or drip is prepared following standard clinical hygiene procedures — sterile vials, single-use needles, and a clean preparation area.

3. Application

Depending on the formulation, this is either a direct intramuscular/intravenous injection (a few minutes) or a slow IV drip (30–60 minutes). Mild, temporary sensations like warmth or a metallic taste are common during IV administration and pass quickly.

4. Aftercare

You will get written guidance on hydration, sun protection, and the date of your next session. Sunscreen matters more during a whitening course, not less — new, lighter skin is more sensitive to UV exposure.

Most people find the first session is over faster than expected, and the main adjustment is simply knowing what is coming for session two.
